Growing up multicultural and multiracial in a town where there were not many other Hapa folk I knew one other Hapa growing up created some confusion for me; I never felt comfortable in the Korean-American community I look so white and yet much of my upbringing that was influenced by Korean culture always left me feeling a bit out of place among my very western White American peers. I remember that the Asian-American kids in school would not believe me when I told them my mother was from Korea and would ask me to prove it with pictures. But you look so white.

He moved to Seattle in to study with the late Japanese-American landscape architect Robert Murase, developing his technical skills with stone and water features and his appreciation for contemporary Japanese design.
Joseph returned to Vancouver as senior landscape architect with PFS on many of their signature projects. InJoseph established Hapa Collaborative, which has since become a new voice for contemporary landscape design and a fresh and agile to traditional landscape architecture practice.

Hanako brings nearly ten years of local, regional, and international field and design experience and a background in eco-environmental civil engineering Hapa project landscape architecture to the Hapa Collaborative team.

I first learned of the term “Hapa” when I came across an art book called The Hapa Project. It had tons of pictures of other people who were multiracial and I suddenly did not feel confused or . The Goth Kids are the group of goth children at South Park Elementary.
They are usually seen hanging around the café Benny's and the Village Inn. They also hang out behind the school, near the loading bay and parking lot. They all wear black clothes and eyeliner and have black hair and pale skin. The project was born through a Microsoft incubator program, App Campus, and to date has over 1 million installs.
